In post-apocalyptic America, Selah Chavez is crouched in long grass on a shore littered with the rusted metal remnants of a once-great city. It is the day before her eighteenth Born Remembrance, and she is hunting, though many people refuse to eat animal flesh, tainted by radiation during the Time of Sorrows. What Selah's really after are Landers, mysterious people from a land across the big water who survive the delirium-inducing passage in small boats that occasionally crash against the shoreline. She knows she should leave the capture to the men, but Landers bring a good price from the Company and are especially prized if they keep the markings they arrive with.

Everything falls to pieces when the Lander Selah catches is stolen by her brothers--and Selah wakes up the next morning to find the Lander's distinctive mark has suddenly appeared on her own flesh. Once the hunter, Selah is now one of the hunted, and she knows only one person who can help her--Bohdi Locke, the Lander her brothers hope to sell.

THUNDER Available October 7th.

WILD CARD FRIDAY 22 AUG 2014

Welcome to Wild Card Friday. On the fourth  (and fifth) Friday of every month, I've invited my writer friends to share something fun and different about themselves or their work, or something fun for you to do. This week Sue Mason has a picture for us to caption. So get ready to give it your best shot!

Can you tell what’s on the tabby’s mind by his expression?

Come on, let's have some fun. Share your caption in a comment below.

Now, let's take a look at Sue's newest book.

Lily Draper comes to Rainbow Falls in search of her biological sister, the only blood relative she has left. Emotionally scarred by her preacher father, Lily avoids religion at all cost. Her new landlord, an aspiring minister, soon has her questioning her views. Can she learn to trust Nick's heart or will her sordid past destroy their love?

Nick Logan hopes to take over for the retiring minister who has groomed Nick for the job. But Reverend Ted seems to feel the position requires Nick to marry an upstanding woman, namely Ted’s niece. When Nick finds himself falling in love with Lily Draper, the woman least likely to become a minister's wife, his problems escalate. And when Reverend Ted gives him an ultimatum, Nick faces an impossible choice.

Can he accept God’s will and still find a place for Lily in his life?

Susan has recently been blessed with contracts from White Rose Publishing, Harlequin Love Inspired and Bethany House. Betrayed Hearts is Susan’s debut contemporary romance, which releases on August 8, 2014. Book 2 - Wayward Hearts releases in December 2014.
Susan lives in a suburb near Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where she works part-time as a church secretary. THIRD FRIDAY WRITING NEWS 15 August

It's my week to share, yea!!  Every third Friday I'll catch you up on what's new with my writing or something fun I'm doing. There's lots to share this month!!

THE WOMEN OF VALLEY VIEW: SAMANTHA

We don't have a release date, I haven't even started edits yet, but we have a cover and I think it's beautiful!!

I'm crossing my fingers that we'll see her released sometime in the spring of 2015.

THE WOMEN OF VALLEY VIEW: KATE

I put "THE END" on Kate's rough draft last week. I'm editing and polishing the story while I wait for Samantha's edits.
***Please note, this is NOT the cover*** I clipped a picture of Kate from the cover of Pam's story so we could see what she looks like.

What's Kate's story about?

A two time widow falls hard for her new business partner, both unaware that he killed her first husband.

Last but not least, the July issue of my news letter is out. In this issue I have the great fun of interviewing author/lawyer/pastor Randy Singer.

He's gonna give an autographed copy of his latest book away and the are some other nice contests and freebies for new subscribers. If you haven't subscribed, I'd love to have you.

You can do that HERE

If you like to take a look at the July issue, you can see it HERE

So, let's talk about VALLEY VIEW. Do you have a question about any of the stories, characters, or series present or future?  Now's the time to ask.

SECOND FRIDAY RECIPE 8 AUG 2014

Welcome to second Friday recipes. On the second Friday of every month I've invited a fellow author to share a favorite recipe. And since authors love to talk about their books...under the recipe you'll find some info about their writing.  This month we have a cookie recipe from Cari Schaeffer. ENJOY!!

Salted Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 cup butter
½ cup sugar
½ cup brown sugar
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp fine kosher salt
2 eggs
1 ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
1 cup all-natural peanut butter (ingredient list should say peanuts and salt only)
2 cups all purpose flour
2 cups dark chocolate chunks or semi-sweet chocolate chips
Approximately 2 Tbsp coarsely ground kosher salt

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper and set aside.

2. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugars on high speed for about a minute. Add baking soda, fine kosher salt, eggs, vanilla, and peanut butter. Beat until well combined. Add flour and combine well. Stir in the chocolate chunks.

3. Scoop the cookies into generous Tablespoon mounds on the prepared cookie sheets. Wet your fingers and press the dough down to flatten it a bit. Sprinkle each mound lightly with the coarsely ground kosher salt.

4. Bake the cookies for about 10 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Cool on the cookie sheets for about 2 minutes, and then remove them to a cooling rack to cool completely. (If you can wait that long! I never do….) This recipe makes about 2 dozen cookies, depending on the size of the cookies.

Now, let's check out Cari's book:

Run, run, run...

Run away. That’s what Faith Strauss has done for twenty years. She was destroyed by one tragic event. An event so horrific, she didn’t share it with anyone, not even her husband. She buried it deep inside, where it can’t hurt anyone.

If God is good, then where was He? Why didn’t He stop it? How can she trust Him ever again?

Run, run, run…

She’s not good enough. Never has been. Never will be. She could lose it all again, if she’s not careful. She married, had children, and carved out a life for herself. But Fear is her ever-present companion, always reminding her never to reach too far, or too high.

Run, run, run…

God has another plan. A plan that she never saw, even though she has walked it her entire life. Will the unexpected exposure of her secret and the truth behind it restore her or destroy her all over again?

It’s time to stop running.

Cari has worn numerous hats in life. She proudly wore the uniform of the US Air Force. After serving, she worked as a critical care RN for almost a decade. She also owned her own Personal Chef and Catering company for six years. Finally, she chose to turn her attention back to her family.

Closing her business hasn’t made her a couch potato. She cooks at the weekly Wednesday night dinners for her church, and volunteers at the Cross Talk Café in support of the Celebrate Recovery church ministry on Friday nights. She has volunteered her time as a Mentor Mom for two MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) groups. When she’s not busy in the church doors, she’s happily entertaining people in her home.

She not only has a passion for writing, but also for serving. She views writing as a form of service for people from all walks of life. Jesus used story-telling to convey life principles, why can’t we do the same?

She lives in southern Illinois with her ridiculously patient husband of twenty four years, three children, and her two Chihuahua guard dogs, Snoopy and Stanley. Faith, Hope, Love, and Chocolate is her first novel.

GETTING TO KNOW YOU FRIDAY

Welcome to getting to know you Friday. On the first Friday of each month I hope to get to know all of you a little better by sharing something about myself and posting a question for you to answer.

Over the last 10 years I have been blessed to be able to take some WONDERFUL vacations. From the lush greenery of Hawaii, to the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, the depths of the Grand Canyon, and this year...the beauty of Alaska.

I love the majesty of snow capped mountains and the valleys thick with 100 shades of green are awesome.

But I have to say that my favorite vacations, the ones I go back to year after year, take me to the ocean.

The movement of the water. The mild temperatures of the tropics.

The wonderful mysteries that wait just under the surface. I LOVE to snorkel. I always wanted to learn to scuba dive, I've decided that snorkeling is the next best thing. I could float out on the water with my mask buried in the water for hours at a time. I am amazed at all the beauty God designed for us just under the surface.

My vacation for 2015 will be a return to the ocean on a 7 day cruise.

Tell me about you.  What's your favorite vacation destination...Mountain or beach? What's your favorite thing to do while you're there?
